Katie & Cary’s Wedding
A few weeks ago I helped fellow photographer John Mueller cover a wedding up in the hills of Santa Barbara. This was my first experience doing wedding photography and I’ll admit, it was as hard as I thought it would be. The day started at 8am when I arrived at John’s house, and didn’t end until 6pm when I got home. A long day for sure. It was especially long since I was wearing newer shoes that were digging into my heals. Lesson learned there…. Don’t wear new shoes to your first 10 hour event!
We drove up to Santa Barbara and arrived at the wedding/reception location (Godric Grove @ Elings Park). Scouting the location revealed that it would be tough to shoot because there were a lot of trees. This meant a lot of mixed lighting (shade and bright sunlight) in the same shot. There was an amphitheater for the wedding, an open field for the cocktail hour, and a tree covered patio area for the reception. I can see why the couple choose this spot, as it was a beautiful location.
Good luck and best wishes to Katie and Cary!
