My New Epson Stylus Photo RX580

I have always been very frustrated with the performance of printing from my computer. Bubble jet printers just don’t seem to have the quality or print longevity that I desired.

Recently I purchased an Epson Stylus Photo RX580. It’s an all in one scanner/printer. It cost me around $125, and I thought that it was a good price for an all-in-one. I recently learned that it might not have been such a good deal since the cost of ink cartridges is really expensive. $20 for the small blank ink cartridge, and $65 for the pack of 5 color cartridges (C, M, Y, light M, and light C). That’s $85 for ink. And the higher quality Epson papers are around $25/pack. So, you can see that it’s not that cheap of a printer after all.

Also, I thought that this scanner was able to scan film (i.e. 35mm and 120 negatives). Well, it doesn’t. I guess I got that mixed up with some other printer I was looking at. My bad.

All in all though, I’d have to say that it prints very nice, all be it, expensive prints.
